non-laser tattoo removal?

has anyone had any experience with excision or dermabrasion for tattoo removal? what are the starting costs for them and how effective are they?

    I had an awful home done tattoo on the top of my hand that I had done when I was 13 years old. I tried every kind of cream on it. They don’t work DON’T waste your money.
    Laser treatments where just too expensive for me.
    So I got something done when they pretty much just rub the top layer of skin off.
    It hurt, and looks nasty. The tattoo is gone but I have nasty scar.
    If I could go back, I would have spent the money on laser removal.
